Kester Carruthers preaches on 1 Corinthians 3

Today at St Andrew’s we were delighted to welcome Kester Carruthers as our preacher and celebrant.

Kester preached on 1 Corinthians 3:16  “Do you not know that you, yourselves, are God’s temple?” His message was that, though we have some beautiful buildings in the Church of England, in reality it is we, the people, who are the church and not the buildings.

Kester has spent the greater part of his ministry working as an army chaplain and he drew on his life experiences to illustrate his sermon; he talked about leading worship outdoors, in army canteens and even in tents (outside Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands), as well as his memories of services held in the open air in the rubble of Coventry Cathedral after its destruction in the Blitz .

Our thanks to Kester for leading a wonderful service this morning
